Melissa’s prom is coming up. The senior checked various magazines to see what kind of hairdo will work and this proved to be very challenging. The problem was perhaps the hair since it had a natural curl ever since birth.
The woman tried straightening this but this proved to be disastrous. The hairstyle didn’t do well so Melissa never tried anything again.
While surfing the net with a friend, the two stumbled into one website that caters to people with curly hair. Melissa called this a gift from God since the site catered to those that have long hair.
The first one featured a model with the curly hair pulled to the back. There are many variations of this and the nice thing was, no gel or hair spray was needed to hold this in place. The hair was hanging loose with a band or braid keeping everything together.
The second that made the couple laugh was something similar to Marge Simpson. Stylists call this the beehive look. The hair was standing upright and decorated with some accessories which really made it look well.
The third picture showed a look for those that have short and curly hair. The model had the top portions straightened and curls hanging over the side.
Some of the models in the site even dyed the hair. This gave Melissa some ideas and after browsing the various looks, Melissa decided to print a photograph and give this to a stylist who was more than happy to do the job.
There are some things that people should know about curly hair. The first is that there are not that many hairstyles that are readily available for use in a prom.
The person will have to stay in the salon longer than those who have straight hair. In most cases, the stylist will only get down to the details in the last 20 minutes unlike other people who work from start to finish achieving that look.
Some people think that it is easier for someone to care for curly than straight hair however stylists have proven this to be the other way around. A person’s hair is more fragile if this is curly. The best way to care for this is using the hands and not a brush since this will only create a mess.
There are a lot of stylists who know how to work the hair but there are only a few who can cut and work with curls. Those who are skilled will only do this when the hair is wet which enables the person to see the natural shape.
The best way to treat curly hair will be to do this in layers. The person can see this being done in the mirror and be sure that this isn’t cut too short since this will destroy the look.
People who are not born with natural curly hair can also have this done. The person should be patient since this will take more than 2 hours before one will be able to put on that dress and be escorted to the prom.
The prom is a big event in the life of a teenager. No matter what kind of hair the individual has, this still requires planning to achieve something unique that people don’t see in campus everyday.
