Knowing Kids Loft Bedding

from:

Most people invest on bunk beds or loft beds to help maximize a limited room space. Although considered very classic, loft beds and bunk beds are becoming the priority choice among children, teens and young adults to have space for a bed instead of rolling a sleeping bag each night.

Loft beds and bunk beds, what are the differences?

Although most people mistakenly call bunk beds for loft beds and vice versa, there are still great differences that would characterize each. Lets start.

Bunk beds seem to be one of the more popular alternatives to regular beds. It is basically composed of two beds, a lower and an upper bed. There are bunk beds that have the same size of mattresses for each layer while there are those that has larger futons below while providing a much smaller mattress above. Usually, bunk beds have ladders to help smaller kids reach the upper bunk. Others are equipped with a slide instead of a ladder, which make the bunk ideal for playful individuals.

Loft beds, on the other hand, have a similar purpose with that of the bunk- to save space. However, the lower bunk is removed for the loft. This provides a more livable space below. These are usually seen used in cramped dormitories and university sleeping halls to maximize livable space. Additionally, young adults prefer loft beds to expand the workable area of their first apartments. These are also ideal for people with small rooms and would not want to share the bedroom with someone.

When choosing a loft bed, take initial considerations of the personality of the kid that will occupy the bed. Safety must be placed above everything. Never compromise security over the loft bedding's appeal to fashion. For there are themed loft bedding for kids that pose potential dangers that may cause you running to the nearest clinic in the middle of the night. Or worse, to the nearest emergency room.

Check if the child is old enough to upgrade to a more adult-suited bed. Children who are under six years old are not advised to avail of any forms of loft beds, and even the upper layer of bunk beds. Also, parents should firmly assert the rules that must be practiced when on a loft bed. It is extremely dangerous to play in an elevated bed. Take note of the thousands of children rushed in hospitals due to injuries brought about by loft and bunk bed accidents for which rough horseplay takes the most part.

Regardless of the kid's age, the loft bed must be secured with two guardrails (not one!). most people have the practice of choosing one-sided guardrail due to the reason that the other side of the loft bed stands close to the wall. That's dangerous enough especially when the child rolls off to the unguarded side while sleeping.

Loft bed for kids must have guard rails that stand no less than 3 ½ inches above the mattress. While most loft beds minimum space between the mattress and the frame, there are those that can pose real danger as kids often falls off to the gap between the two. Make sure that if you buy a loft bed frame, the mattress size would fit on it without the unnecessary gap.

Take enough time to consider and reconsider your options for discount kids loft bedding. They may enjoy the activities of a themed loft bed and you might enjoy the savings you got from buying them but do they get the security they deserve. Again, place safety above any other thing when it comes to discounted loft beds for kids.
