But how should you select a bunk bed? This is the question that might have not set in your mind. Remember that bunk beds impose some safety risks so you need to carefully select which one to choose.



Sturdiness – Kid’s bunk beds should be strong and sturdy. Since it is expected that your child will play in their beds, make sure that the bunk bed you are about to buy can carry some extra pounding. To make sure of this, examine carefully bed you are eyeing at. Shake the bed strenuously to make sure it is sturdy.



Safety – Make sure the bunk bed has passed the safety standards. Ask the manufacturer this detail. If it has, make sure that it came from the American Society of Testing Materials. This will guarantee you protection.



Design – Your child needs to play and your child also needs to enjoy bedtime. One way to enhance that is to find a design that he or she likes. There are several bunk bed designs you can choose from. Length – The size of the bunk bed will depend on the size of your child and the how long the bed will last. If you have a growing child, don’t buy beds that only fit his entire body. Make allowances for growth. And if you wish to use the bunk bed for a very long time, you can choose a standard bunk bed.



Height – Examine the height in two ways. First is by sitting on the lower deck. Make sure that your head will not hit the upper deck. Second is by checking the height of the bed from the floor. It is important to make sure that the height will be ideal to you and your kid.



Rail – On most bunk beds, safety rails are important. This is to make sure that your kid is secured while asleep. If the bed is standing beside the wall, the other side should also have rail. In short, rail is a must at all times.



Mattress – Finally, you can choose the mattress for the bunk bed. Sometimes, bunk beds have built in mattresses attached to the bed. If there is no mattress, make sure that the bed has provisions to secure any mattress you add.
