Reviews of Sites That Have Lists of High School Musicals
from:
Are you thinking about producing a high school musical?
A production like that needs careful planning and preparation.
A wrong decision or even a late one can spell disaster for your musical. You need to choose the right storyline, the right performers, the right music, the right songs and dozens of other “rights” in order to make a musical work.
Unlike conventional plays, high school musicals depend upon the music to carry the plotline.
Some people choose to create their own storyline, and therefore compose their own songs.
Unlike plays, which can be developed using words alone, musicals depend upon the songs to touch both the audience and the storyline.
The right song needs to be written to carry a part in the story.
The songs also need to hold the audience spellbound to the world within the stage.
Sounds hard? Don’t worry you can do it!
However, if you are a bit short of time, you may want to produce a musical that is already written and performed by others.
In doing so, you gain a lot of advantages.
Some of these advantages are:
*Time – As mentioned before, a lot of time is required to create or write an original musical.
Songs and music need to be composed in addition to a gripping plot.
*Effort – Performing a well known musical saves you the effort of having to teach new songs to the performers.
Choose wisely, and you might even save yourself the trouble of having to explain to the performers exactly what you want to happen.
*Peace of Mind – With a well-known musical, you need only to concentrate on the quality of your production.
With an original, however, you would be constantly worrying about the quality of the story, the songs and other aspects of the musical.
This leaves you less time to perfect the production.
If you decide to perform a known high school musical, then you would need to do some research. Some websites offer you list of high school musicals you might want to perform.
Here are some of them:
Musicals.net – This site offers forums, news, links and other resources related to musicals.
Many people are constantly using this website, so the forums are especially helpful for those who want to put up their own musicals.
They offer lyrics to the songs, but you would have to come up with the dialogues.
A synopsis of each musical is available, so you would not really have a hard time.
You can also be proud of the fact that you actually wrote the dialogue!
This makes your musical virtually unique!
That is, unless, you buy some DVD’s and copy off them.
Individual input, however, is encouraged.
Musicals101.com – This site looks pretty boring at first, but it is actually pretty helpful for those who want to start their own musicals.
This site offers a list of high school musicals, as well as some tips on how to put them up.
It is virtually an encyclopedia on musicals.
Allmusicals.com – This site is particularly helpful if you are looking for lyrics to songs in musicals. It offers a comprehensive list of not only theatre musicals, but movie musicals as well.
The musicals featured in this site are also constantly updated, so you get the latest buzz on your musical.
This site also features synopses and viewer reviews to help you decide which musical is for you.
These are just some of the sites where you can find lists of high school musicals; you may make use of them to jump-start your production.
After all, you will need all the help you can get.
