Introduced by the Davis Memorial Foundation, car donation drives became a new source of funds for charities across the US in addition to cash donations. Only five cars were donated in that year but other charities started their own car donation programs.

The Kelley Blue Book and the National Automobile Dealers Association has references available in the Internet to help donors calculate the fair market value of the vehicle they will serve as a donation. The tax deduction is based how the charity categorizes the car.
The minimum tax deduction of $500 is awarded to a donor whose car is categorized as "low value." A considerable number of cars are sold in dealerships or auction but the cash price is normally below the book value of the car. A car still capable to operate to run regularly will qualfy the donor to a tax deduction as high as $5,000.

The charity also provides educational, social and economic opportunities that will cater specially to the demands of the visually impaired.
National Catholic Aids Network
The National Catholic AIDS Network aggressively promotes faith and spirituality for those inflicted with HIV/AIDS. This charity is the single national group committed to assisting the Catholic Church positively react by the challenges resulting from the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Funding comes from tax-deductible grants, car with cash donation, fundraising, membership charges and returns from the once a year Ministry Conference.
Pegasus Special Rider Inc.
Pegasus Special Rider Inc's mission is to provide moral support and promote healing for those handicapped from mental, physical and emotional disabilities. The group uses a unique equine assisted strategy, as a horse is used to attain certain therapeutic goals.
Giving a car with cash donation to Pegasus Special Rider is greatly encouraged, as the vehicle can be used as transportation for blind people.

Animal advocacy is the main mission of Protecting Animals USA. The group is working for the improvement of animal life through outreach, education and active campaigning.
